What is the idea behind Piloxing?
Piloxing was created by Viveca Jenson as an educational program in 2010. Viveca was previously a dance instructor, however because of an injury she couldn’t continue dance anymore and that’s when she discovered Pilates. She loved Pilates as a workout and even created her own Pilates Company but she missed the outlet for power that dance provided. So eventually she came up with the idea of Piloxing, a workout routine which takes elements of Pilates and incorporates it into a standing cardio class. The idea behind Piloxing is to lose yourself in the music, feel sexy and enjoy the workout at the same time.
What kind of learners does Piloxing attract?
One of the goals of Piloxing is to empower women, to give them a platform where they can feel powerful. The environment that we create is fun and inclusive as there is a lot of interaction between participants. This creates a community feeling amongst the learners. Generally, all kinds of people enroll in the Piloxing class, it’s not age specific
What can a learner expect from a Piloxing class?
Our main goal is to let people experience the power of Piloxing . Piloxing is a fun class but more than that we implement Pilates principles into the class. These principles are based on stabilizing the core of the body. You can learn about alignment, balance and stability gradually over a number of Piloxing sessions.
What is the future of Piloxing in India?
India is the perfect platform for Piloxing. People here are already involved with aerobics and dance, so they will be open to Piloxing as well. We even add boxing techniques into our cardio routine which really elevates the entire workout. The great thing about India is that even men take Piloxing classes. Despite the initial goal of woman empowerment, it’s amazing how men in India have accepted this workout.
