Les Mills Program Coach, Nitesh Hira, talks about his training programs and fitness in India.
In conversation with Nitesh Hira

What is Les Mills all about?

Less Mills is world’s number 1 group fitness company. They design programs, and they provide these to trainers all over the world. Trainers can then use these modules within their classrooms. We have a thousand master trainers. In India, we have seven master trainers who work with me.

What kind of programs do you teach?

The first program that I teach is body combat and it’s based on mixed martial arts. It’s a fifty five minute high intensity workout which includes kickboxing, karate and taekwondo techniques. The second program is called RPM, which stands for Rhythm, Power and Motion. It’s an indoor cycling program where you have a stationary bike. It’s a forty five minute biking workout with some really good music! The third program is a very high intensity thirty minute workout. It’s a research backed workout based on core strength. This program is called CXWORK; it increases core strength, tones abs, butts and legs and improves posture. The fourth program I teach is called Bodypump and it’s a complete body workout. Spanning fifty minutes, this workout is ideal for all fitness levels. It involves high repetitions and low or medium weights. It’s all about getting in shape by burning fat faster.

You are creating your own program…

Yes, I am working on creating my own program. My goal is to spread awareness about fitness to the common man. I want to make fitness accessible to housewives, people with no access to gyms and I want to achieve this through technology. My project revolves around educating people about fitness.

Where do you train?

I am associated with two clubs in Delhi, Fitness First and Studio Sixty. Les Mills courses are specifically designed to train other instructors. I train for Les Mills all over India and even abroad.

Fitness in India…

I think there is a lack of background information which is provided to people in India. My approach in the future would be to let people move out of their comfort zone. We spend 80% of the day sitting and that’s not good!

We thank ATP fitness for giving us the opportunity to be a part of India's first international convention and meet and interview international fitness trainers.
